Administering medicine

As a rule, we do not permit medicine on the school premises and if a child is ill, then we request that it remains at home until it is well again.

However, we understand that there are instances when a child is healthy enough to be at school and does not present any health concerns for the other children, yet still requires medicine to be administered during the day.

In such exceptional cases, we request that parents bring the medicine to school and administer it themselves at the appropriate times.

Only under very exceptional circumstances that will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, it may perhaps be possible for a teacher to administer the medicine, if neither of the parents can do it. It will then still be for risk of the parents. We do not accept any liability (except in a proven case of gross negligence).

Such cases may be discussed directly with the BCA, should the need arise.
